It would seem that spineless ‘Republicans’ and Democrats who wish that Sarah Palin would just shut up and go away have another name to childishly bandy about.
Quitter.
So she should have stayed on the state payroll and dumped on the Alaskan people while she prepares for the next step in her path?
Yes, I know there is a precedent (any number of them, in fact): Big Barry, Hillary, John McCain, John Kerry (who I heard served in Vietnam)… the list goes on of Senators, Representatives, oh, and Governors who have sponged off their office and their state while they ran all over the country campaigning.
How many of the Republican ‘chosen few’: Governor Romney and Senator Thune… will have the testicular fortitude to do likewise. We know the Sarah is a woman but she’s got a bigger pair than any two of the field of throwaways the Republican Party is currently throwing in our faces. Newt? Rudy? PA-leeeze… Gimme a few days and I’ll explain the clothespin over my nose in regards to them and Huckabee (along with a few others).
I will give a pat on the back to one of the RNC’s anointed: Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. He has announced that he will not stand for re-election. That’s a positive sign as to his compass bearings if he’s planning a run straight through the paint to the net.
But… doesn’t that make him a quitter too? Naw… making the remainder of your term irrelevant isn’t the same as resigning and turning your state over to a very capable replacement; Sean Parnell. Parnell can, in turn use this time and continue to push her agenda forward.
Oh, but she is a quitter… ye-ah… ri-ight…
Lets see: she RESIGNED her post as Governor. She was NOT driven from office in shame by scandal. Seems she doesn’t feel the need to get horizontal with anyone but HER HUSBAND Todd.
Morals, standards, and in her case: ‘Hiking the Appalachian Trail’ undoubtedly would involve thick-soled boots and plenty of water bottles for the kids.
In resigning,
· She is free to now take her fight to the next level. While NOT wasting Alaskan’s tax dollars by traveling the globe on their dime.
· She is not wasting Alaskan’s tax dollars by being a non-existent and irrelevant Governor.
· She is not wasting Alaskan’s tax dollars by subjecting the state’s coffers to defending her against morons and their insipid trumped-up allegations and FOIA requests.
· Parnell, who is supposedly “very aligned with her views” can both move her agenda forward while at the same time solidify his position for a bid to stay in the office after 2010. The endorsement she just gave him is speaking VOLUMES to the people of Alaska.
Now you would think that people would laud her and realize that she is sparing the state and the people of Alaska a lot of undue burdens here. What it appears to me is that the very people whining about her ‘quitting’ are the same ones that wouldn’t have anything to do with her even if they were stuck overnight in an elevator with her.
The sad thing is that there are a LOT of Republicans, note that I DID NOT say ‘Conservatives’, Republicans (RNC higher-ups and down), that belong in that crowd and who just wish (some of whom are very vocal) that she would just ‘shut the f up’ and go home.
THAT would be quitting… I don’t think that is part of Sarah Palin’s agenda.
